Wizard's Folly & Ascalon Catacombs
I was unsure if I should revive an old post regarding this topic
(search found me this thread: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/new-elite-dungeon-ascalon-catacombs-t10224744.html?t=10224744&highlight=Wizard%27s+Fol ly )
so I am beginning anew, feel free to chastize/change.
I think about Wizard's Folly every now and again since I still wander around in Pre. I think this would make some nice additional content for GW1 (and 2).
From what I remember the passage to Wizard's Folly was cut off, not necessarily that the entire mountain and village was destroyed in the Searing. Perhaps extreme magic to keep the inhabitants safe mixed with the Charr's magic and something really bad happened. Perhaps the illusion is wavering and we need to find a back way in to check it out, say starting from the much ignored Tomb of the Primeval Kings. We could also gain access to a new Tyrian Dungeon, Ascalon Catacombs. Granted I didn't find any lore about the original catacombs or consider how it may relate to the GW2 version but I would like to see it none the less.
When I think of the area and the threats it may contain I think of broken gravity laws, Wild Wildlife including trees (maybe they're just anti-spider), Bandit and Wizard factions at odds with each other for power or in fear of the unknown extent of the Charr invasion. Heck maybe a handful of Charr made it that far to terrorize the people but due to being cut off from the rest of their warband eventually found themselves changing allegiances. We don't know what/who may be lurking in the Catacombs, a rebel faction, loose Charr, or something more sinister.
I think I'd even purchase it like I did the Bonus Mission Pack. Would anyone else be interested in this?

The way i see it - from the devestation shown in post sear on the surrounding landscape and buildings i would expect the catacombes to be almost decimated - the force of the searing would have an impact on them even being below ground.Ergo years later it woudlnt exist nor would probably any remains or ruins.
Granted it would be nice to have some dungeons appear all over tyria - theres quite a few places that are unexplored ( or just map filling ) and given access to may hold say a hidden entrance and it goes from there.
Sadly we all know it wont happen and in a weird way i sort of wished that anet held bk gw2 ( as if they havnt already lol ) and did a few more expansions.

would LOVE to see more of the maps exposed (but I love to explore)...and those areas could be very fun to roam around in.

If they ever re-add Wizard's Folly a-la Grenth's Footprint update, with an entrance to what's left of the catacombs, and put there a neat level 8 outpost (Foible's Demise or something slightly changed name based on Foible's Fair or something like that) I'll be the first one on line to go there and explore the area and do all the content there.

That would be cool ! Rather see that than more nightfall content, but i <3 Proph map and Proph lore more any way.
Don't think i'd want it dungeon style, but i'd still jump at the chance regardless.

@Spiritz The catacombs gotta be there still... how else can we visit them in gw2?
Would be cool I admit... but might be a bit much to add at this point before gw2 will be out... I would definitely not be one complaining if something like it happened.

sounds good, catacombs being back, as they said long ago in either a video, or on forums
maybe just some quest (not solo), instead of mission or dungeon
let it have lvl 20 gargoyles and restless corpses and such... and that boss being lvl 23, with same kind of builds.... except maybe with 2 or 3 more proph/core skills
make the boss have an elite skill, but the boss being boss-like, so cant cap that skill too early
and on HM.... some harder with same skills, as it should stay proph
this should NOT be based on challenges, like the rest of GW is lately, but proph style
also, to make it more interesting, completing the quest NM gives 30 copper zaishen coins, and on HM it gives 2 silver zaishen coins
is repeatable, BUT..... can only be completed once a day
just a small extra, yet good for the old proph style
can also make the NM reward being 1k xp and 500g, and HM 1 silver zaishen coin, 2k xp and 2k money
its just a small pre sear part in post sear ascalon.... then make it reachable for lvl 20's only, so that it cannot really be farmed (not bad, but i think its a reward for being lvl 20 in proph.... and ascalon)
npc must be ascalon guard, of course
as for the catacombs itself, it should have the same looks, yet some parts are more rumbled and the light isnt.... light, but old ascalon darkness
you know, in pre you see sun through holes, but in this case its dark, like the post devourer cave most likely
as for wizards folly, maybe let it be an old ascalon part with lots of melted water and a bit of ice (so a bit of pre shines through it)
several lvl 20 stone elementals and hulking stone elementals, some ice elementals which are left, and maybe a 2 prof boss-like... boss :P which has e/w skills (like frozen burst, armor of frost, swirling aura and ice spear , and backbreaker, mighty blow, bull's strike and flurry) and more armor than ele but less than warriors
of course give the boss-like bosses 12+ attributes and lots of health and energy (radiant insigs and vitae runes on the rest of their pieces)
anyway, this is my suggestion about these parts hope you like it
lvl 20 so that people can actually have a nice way of fighting (thats what people want, right?)

we already have some of those ldoa quests go down there--I am sure that some of those undead could be 'convinced' to stick around (and add an end boss to finally clear them out)...would kind of bridge the new pre quests they added to some post content....
now if we were only the developers-----

Yes those are all good suggestions, thanks to everyone for the replies.
and if I knew 'then' what I know 'now' I might have been a game developer...
